The need of the Company to speed up and make the production of thermo-adhesive paper models more functional was evident. They were trying to overcome the problem of jamming and at the same time achieving correct adhesive transfer to the fabric.

Critical Issues and Objectives Solutions in use Achieved Results

Hot Melt Coating System: In 1987, Virax Borghi created the coating system with hot melt adhesive that brings significant advantages both to the production process and improved paper-fabric adhesion. This system was installed for the first time on a coating machine that previously used a coating with a glue in aqueous solution. Virax was the first company in the industry to experiment coating with a fixed bar of hot melt adhesives (the fixed bar system allows a part of the adhesive to penetrate the paper fibers and prevent it from transferring onto the fabric).

Jamming issue resolution: The use of hot melt adhesive solves the problem of jamming, which happens when the paper is stuck on itself once it is set in rolls, stocked in places with temperatures close to the melting point of the glue. The thermo-adhesive paper is used to glue the paper (on which the shape of the model to be cut is drawn) to the fabric. This process takes place through the heating of the latter so that it can then be manually cut and easily removed by the operator. This type of paper is suitable for manual cutting.
The main advantage is the increase in the capacity of the production sector and a better yield on the final product.
